2007-05-23 "Hartington" is a chocolate box village, only 4 miles from our cottage. It has a local cheese factory & shop, a haven for Dovedale walkers and many fine foods. A visit to The Old Cheese Shop in Hartington will be well worth your while! Bring your camera!
2007-03-04 "Denby Factory Shop & Visitors Centre" is only 30 minutes from our cottage! They just opened a new "Home Store". Lots to see and do including factory tours, a restaurant, and shopping galore! Tel: 01773 740799 If you love Denby, youll really enjoy this!
2006-10-20 "Uttoxeter Race Course" is only 15 miles away from us! Enjoy the finest country racecourse in the land and then relax and unwind at our cottage, in beautiful Dovedale...in the Peak District National Park. It doesnt get any better!!
2006-08-01 "Pony Treking at Tissington" If you love riding horses, then this is the place for you. Tissington is about 1.5 miles from the cottage. Ride beautiful horses thru lovely country villages, around Thorpe Cloud and Dovedale. Guided rides are every weekend.
2006-08-01 "Golfing Heaven" at Brailsford Golf Course. Only 5 miles away from the cottage. Very high standard course with modern facilities, pay as you play at low rates, PGA tuition with qualified golf professionals available. Tel: 01335 360096
2006-08-01 "Visit Bakewell" If youve never been to Bakewell, then you are really missing a treat! Loads of lovely shops, bakeries, restaurants, tea rooms, public garden to admire, and many great pubs. Youll need a good afternoon to see it all. Very popular.
2006-04-27 "A Fantastic Walk", start at our doorstep, walk around the base of Thorpe Cloud, across the "stepping stones" and the River Dove, through the beautiful village of Milldale, on towards Alstonefield...stop for lunch at a country pub, then back to Thorpe.
2006-02-16 Peak Cycle Hire is now open at the "Tissington Trail". A disused railway line of scenic beauty. 13.5 miles long and traffic free! Tel. 01335 343156. Shop opens everyday at 9:30am. Its a nice day out and great exercise!! You will love it!
2006-01-08 "Crich Tramway Village" Open daily 10am-5:30pm. A world from a bygone age. Vintage trams take visitors along cobbled streets. Three acres of woodland park, sculpture trail, picnic areas. A really nice day out with a different twist.
